An untested alert channel is a rumour
Most integrations are configured once, never fire in anger, and quietly break six months later when someone rotates a key. We treat that as the default case rather than the edge case.
Nothing counts until it is proven
A new channel is marked untested until a real message reaches the provider. Press send, and you see the provider’s own answer, word for word. Change the key and it goes back to untested, because what it proved is no longer what it uses.
A failing channel cannot swallow an alert
When sends start failing, the channel says so, and the alerts also go out by email until you have fixed it. The one moment an integration must not fail silently is the moment it is carrying bad news.
You can see what was sent
Every alert is recorded: where it went, whether it was accepted, and what came back if it was not. So “nobody told me” is a question with an answer instead of an argument.
